This is an incredible study. Prepare to look at music theory from the perspective of the `Quantum Lattice'...from the perspective of the harmonic fabric of `empty' space, and everything in creation, which resonates and is dampened by the laws of harmonics. A musical unified field theory!

The author reveals the roots of our present-day system of music theory, as one created by the early Roman Catholic Church in its competitive battle against pagan musical-astronomical theologies. To discourage harmonic knowledge, the church dubbed the Tritone, the `Diabolus in Musica'...the devil in music. The author concludes that Tritone avoidance plays a significant role in understanding our current traditional music theory system.

After hundreds of years, the Roman Church campaign was successful, resulting in the exclusion of harmonics as an acceptable field of study. (Check out the references to the14th century Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, with its many harmonic and musical secrets, hidden from Papal view.)

The end result is what the author calls a `complicity of convenience' between Science and the Church, to avoid harmonics as a unifying principle in Nature and human perception. This is no small thing. From this historical perspective, the author then proposes a revolutionary organic theory of perception based on the physics of harmonics.

The author explains how the Golden Ratio acts as a physical damping agent inside music harmony, to facilitate the flow of vibratory energy, which our auditory system is then able to recognize as a kind of spring opening and closing inside the Tritone. He goes on to explain that our ears and auditory system are structured the exact same way as a guitar string...harmonically...and that our emotional response to music is the result of matching harmonic patterns and shapes against identical structures in our ears and brains. The same physical principles are also applied to show how the entire body is organized harmonically.

The implication of this study is far more profound than the title and subject imply. `Interference' is a physical scientific relationship between two waves. What is being said here simply, is that our human relationship to the universe should be `harmonic'. Two of the worlds great religious traditions give much attention to resonance . The Mantra traditions of the Hindu and the Buddhist.

What if the `West' recognized the harmonic nature of the universe? We would then' naturally' have to pay attention to principals like:

harmony: (harmony) a combination of parts into a pleasing or orderly whole; congruity, agreement in feeling, action, ideas, interests, etc.; peaceable or friendly relation; a state of agreement or orderly arrangement.

coherence: (coherence) is the harmonious flow of information, cooperation, and order among the subsystems of a larger system that allows for the emergence of more complex functions.)

Upravo čitam knjigu koja povezuje geometriju, glazbu i prirodu (oko i unutar nas). Knjiga se zove "Teorija interferencije - Velika znanstveno-glazbena teorija" autora Richarda Merricka. Osobno mislim da mi pojašnjava neke složene dijelove Gurdjieffa. Zanimljiva su prigušenja koja izazivaju skretanje krivulje. No, kad pročitam cijelu knjigu moći ću nešto više reći.
